Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
I am privileged to represent the Heads of the Diplomatic Mission accredited to the Republic of Guinea on this special occasion. I am also honoured to extend to you, the government and people of the Republic of Guinea our best wishes for this New Year (2023).
The year 2022 has ended and the country which hosts us all had so many important challenges and you Mr. President have been able to understand so well the hearts and minds of the Guinean people in a truly inspirational manner. I recently attended an event of “Inclusive Dialogue” at the Muhammed V Palace with several foreign Ambassadors. Indeed, the very warm and heartfelt standing ovation you received on that occasion was a clear sign of the high level of trust and confidence your compatriots have in you.
Mr. President, the Diplomatic community resident in Conakry is aware of and has taken keen interest in the high-level diplomatic engagement Guinea has embarked on with International Organisations such as the African Union and regional bodies such as Ecowas and the Mano River Union member states. Our hopes and wishes for the New Year is for your government to have more meaningful dialogue with the African Union and Ecowas in resolving all outstanding issues and also in collaborating with the ECOWAS mediating team headed by the former president of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency, Mr. Thomas Yayi Boni.
Mr. President through your leadership qualities, your government has been able to maintain peace in the country, bring all the opposition parties for an Inclusive Dialogue in order to create a road map for the smooth transition of power from military to civilian rule through the formation of the National Transitional Council (CNT). Your Government is indeed on the right track and with the support of friendly partners, this can be achieved.
I would also like to personally thank you Mr. President for the construction of the Coyah-Pamelap High Way which has made it easier for vehicular movement and for traders of both countries to move freely with their commodities without hindrance. This in effect has boosted Economic and commercial activities between the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Sierra Leone.
On behalf of the Diplomatic corps and on my own behalf, let me extend the sincere wishes of the Diplomatic community for your personal well-being as well as prosperity for the people of Guinea. I thank you.
