On Alleged Vehicle Fraud: Business Man Granted Bail

38yrs Musa Kabia a business man made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on three court charges to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, Forgery contrary to section 2 (1) (a) of the Forgery Act 1931 and Uttering Forged document contrary to section 6 (1) (2) of the Forgery Act 1913.

According to the particulars of offence on a date between the month of November 2018 at No.15 Battery Street Kingtom the Western Area in Freetown did steal by trick one brown Nissan Pathfinder Jeep with registration number AHI 591 valued six thousand united States dollars(6000) equivalent to the sum of one hundred and eighty thousand new Leones(108,000) Property of Emmanuel Adeyemi Rhodrick Strasser King; on count two the accused person on Friday 9th December 2022 at the Criminal Investigation Department Cid headquarters Pademba Road Freetown with intent to defraud Forged certain document to wit one payment receipt purported to have been prepared and signed by the said complainant knowing same to be false, and on count three on the same date and place the accused person with intent to defraud Forged certain document to wit payment receipt dated 8th January 2019 in the name of the said complainant knowing same to be Forged.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea taken.

The prosecutor told the bench that his witness was absent and sought for an adjournment date.

While counsel representing the accused person K. Williams applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that the accused person is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf, the accused person will make himself available on every adjournment date he made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.

Main while, Magistrate Ngegba granted bail to the accused person in the sum of three hundred thousand New Leones (Le 300,000.00) with two sureties in like sureties to be resident in the western area to produce valid identity card bail to be approved by the Master and registrar. Sergeant 8975 Bangura I. S is prosecuting the matter.

 Matter was adjourned to 25th January 2023.
