Old Edwardian Football Club will today welcome Luawa Football Club at the Parade grounds in crunch tight in the Sierra Leone Premier League.
Old Edwardians are going into this match after securing three points from previous matches following their poor starts in the Sierra Leone Premier League, while Luawa Football Club lost their last match against Mighty Blackpool and hopes to bounce back when the Cacao Boys entertain the May Park Boys in a crucial match in the league.
Old Edwardian Football Club is one of the clubs that bring in more players than other clubs before the Kick-Off of the Premier League and most of those players have started proving their worth for the club. A win for Old Edwardian Football Club will see them move just four points behind the current league leader Bo Rangers Football Club and a win for Luawa Football Club will see them move to seventh position in the Premier League log.
Luawa Football Club is making its first appearance in the Premier League, and they are the clubs that gain Promotion to the top-flight league after trying three attempts so far they have a good squad, but they will have struggled first to adapt in the Premier League.
In another development, Real Republican FC celebrates its first Premier League win, having played five matches without a win, 2 draws, and three defeats, Real Republicans FC gave its fans a reason to cheer, as they defeated Wusum Stars by (2-1) goals to one at the Angola Town Field, as Striker Emmanuel Smart’s brace held secure Real Republicans first top-flight win since 2009. The clubs were able to hang on in the second half despite the visitors getting a consolation goal in the (92) minutes of play.
Real Republican head coach Kwuallay Conteh said “We were never going to say it’s just the first home (match) it was more than that.” You could see since we got promoted, everyone was waiting for this winning, we knew it was very important.”
Real Republicans Football Club was last relegated from the Premier League in 2009 and returned to the top league this season after winning third place in the 2022 SLFA National play-off.
