30 yrs-old Alima Banard a fish monger made her first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three court charges of causing grievous bodily harm contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offence against the person Act 1861 and assault Occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offence against the person Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence on Friday 9th December 2022 at Titty Hotel Crab Town Aberdeen the western area in Freetown caused grievous bodily harm to Fatu Dauda Kamara; on count two and three the accused person on the same date and place maliciously wounded and assaulted Fatu Dauda Kamara in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
On her first appearance the charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea taken.
Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun led first Prosecution witness (PW1) Fatu Dauda Kamara a Student and recognized the accused person as her neighbor. The witness said she recall on the 9th December 2022 that she was at home when the accused person started assaulted her; at this junction the prosecutor requested for a short adjournment date to have proper audience with the witness.
Counsel representing the accused person A.G Kamanda applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that she is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that she has credible sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on her behalf, she is not a flight risk nor will she interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses he made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Main while, Magistrate Gogra granted the accused person bail in the sum of twenty million Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident in the western area sureties to produce valid identity card one surety to be employed bail to be approved by the Bench.
Matter was adjourned to the 9th January 2023 for further hearing.
