The President of Sierra Leone Football Association, Madam Isha Johansen was on Friday 12th March 2021 elected to the FIFA Executive Council in Rabat, Morocco.
Madam Isha Johansen beat former Burundi Council member Madam Lydia Nsekera for the converted role at FIFA and the CAF General Assembly Meeting.
Madam Isha Johansen has been in to the game of Football for over ten years where she has been able to secure a club called FC Johansen that is currently a Premier league club in the Country.
Isha Johansen has become the first West African and the first Sierra Leonean woman elected in to FIFA Council. The Sierra Leonean Entrepreneur is one of the only few women in the World to have headed a National Football Association. In the Elections she got 28 votes while her opponent Burundian Lydia Nsekera who has held the position since 2013 secured 24 votes.
Madam Isha Johansen has also served as CAF Executive member since 2017 and the current President of the Sierra Leone Football Association since 2013. Madam Johansen has continued to promote local football in the Country by organizing referees training courses. She has been able to empower both senior and Junior coaches in the Country to capacitate their Knowledge in modern day Football development. Before becoming President of the Football Association she was able to organize Youth Football Tournaments where Countries like Norway, Brazil participated.
She has presently expressed interest to contest in the upcoming SLFA Elective Congress that is set to take place in Makeni this year.
However, Football fans across the Country are calling on her to set a specific date for the SLFA Elective Congress as she has exceeded her term of Office which is against the Statutes of the of the Sierra Leone Football Association.
