23 years old Bernadette Yeama Solomon was arraigned in court before Magistrate Marke Ngegba on the 9th March, 2021. She is charged with murder contrary to law.
It has been disclosed in court that on 25th December, 2020 at No. 40 Plain Road Campbell Town, Waterloo in the Western Rural District of Freetown, accused assaulted Princess Kallon which led to her death.
According to the police charge sheet it was alleged that both the accused person Bernadette Yeama Solomon and the deceased mother Cecilia Kallon were not in speaking terms. On that fateful day 25th December, 2020, accused allegedly killed 4 years old, Princess Kallon. According to the Police, they were able to establish that both the accused person and the deceased mother had a dispute and later led to malice.
The Crime Officer attached at the Waterloo division, Detective Superintendent Hassan S. Kamara, told the court that during the investigation they interviewed some neighbors around who attested to the allegation that there was existing spite between accused and deceased mother.
“On that fateful day, the accused was the caretaker of Princess (deceased). But the investigation proved to us that she hit the 4 years old girl on her back, without telling the parent or neither took her to the hospital that led to her death,” the witness narrated.
Sargent Taylor is prosecuting the matter and there was no lawyer representing the accused person. Matter adjourned to the 24th March.
