Mayeni Kamara and Memuna Conteh made their first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three court charges of Trespass contrary to section 15 (1) (a) of the Public Order Act No.46 of 1965, Assault contrary to section 19 cap 37 of the laws of Sierra Leone 1960 and abusive languages contrary to section 3 (1) of the Public Order Act No.46 of 1965.
According to the particulars of offence on the 12th September 2022 at No.93b Leicester Road the western area in Freetown unlawfully entered into the compound of the complainant Mariama Kamara in an annoying manner.
On count two at the same place and the accused persons assaulted the said complainant.
On count three the accused persons did make use of abusive language against the said complainant with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.
The charges were read and explained to the accused person and they pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused person W. Gaber applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused persons that they’re Sierra Leoneans resident within this jurisdiction that they have reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognisance on their behalf, they will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses.
He made his application pursuant to section 79 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965
However Magistrate Gogra granted the accused persons bail in the sum of ten thousand Leones each with one surety each in like sum.
Sureties to be resident in the western area.
Both sureties to produce valid identity card depicting his or her addresses in Freetown.
Bail to be approved by the Bench.
Matter adjourned to the 18th October 2022 for further hearing
