Pavifort construction Company in its intervention to manage the Diamond stars football club has donated at least one billion Leones to the club.
The money was donated to the club by the chief Executive officer of PAVIFORT Construction Company Alimu Sanu Barrie who also doubles as the newly appointed chairman and team manager of Diamond Stars football club at the handing over of Diamond Stars football club management to PAVIFORT construction company at a ceremony held at the Sessie Gbenday Hall Bona street in Kaidu City Kono District.
Delivering his keynote address Alimu Sanu Barrie maintained that as a native of Kono district the ceremony was one of his happiest moments because it brought together people from different works of life, noting as a business man who is almost always away the taking over of the Diamond Stars football club will in no doubt give him and his team members time to interface with the people of kono district as agents of development.
“As football or soccer is the symbol of unity I am very happy to take up such responsibility as it is in line with my objective of unifying the district beyond political, regional and tribal lines with the objective of making the club to bounce back to its past glory Mr. Barrie maintained” The CEO of PAVIFORT construction company and team manager maintained.
Diamond stars football club lauded the management of the club for 2013- 2014 season for a work well done of having a championship status and promised to emulate such if possible to do more.
He intimated the audience that they were going to manage the club as a business and called on all to put hands on deck for the betterment of the club and Kono district as a whole.
Alimu Sanu Barrie thanked all those who have been supporting the club especially the first lady and vice president of the republic of Sierra Leone H.E Dr. Fatima Maada Bio and Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and promised to working with them.
He further thanked the players and the outgoing chairman and team manager of club for standing the test of time over the years and counted on their support to give the club a face lift. The minister of local government and rural development Tamba Sokia Lamina chaired the handing over of the Diamond Stars football club management to pavifort Construction Company in his remarks, he pointed out that the day was a read letter for the club and people of Kono district by extension and urged all to accept and work closely with the management.
He noted that the then management of the club did well and therefore entreats the new management to not only take from the old management but to also learn from its laudable operations.
Minister Lamina thanked all for attending the ceremony in their numbers and pleaded with all to continue with such support noting he was very happy to relinquish his position as the team manager of the club.
Making a statement on behalf of the Diamond Stars football club board of trustees members the Mayor Koidu New Sembehun city council his worship Komba Matthew Sam foremost described the day as good for the people of kono district especially sport loving fans.
He maintained that the club has gone through so many managements noting the one under review is very unique and implored all to support the management for the success of the club and the District as a whole.
As a board of trustees member Mayor Sam demonstrated interest in becoming a fan club member also as collaborative support will catapult the club to enviable places and positions in the country and across Africa.
“I expect the players to see themselves as people not only working for themselves but the District as a whole”, Komba Matthew Sam concluded.
