The Deputy Director of the Teaching Service Commission in Bo District, Semion P. Foday has threatened to withhold the salaries of two teachers who have been conspicuously absent from duty since school reopened this academic year.
speaking to A-Z newspaper in Bo, Mr. Foday said that he cannot disclosed for now the name of the school that he visited where the two teachers were absent from duty but actions will be surely taken against them.
He said that he will ensure that he will follow it up on the payroll to ensure that the teachers are not paid, adding that he often said that the teaching profession is a noble profession and if a teacher is not ready let him resign.
The Chairman of the Conference of Principals of Secondary School in Bo district, Denis Momoh said that they are going to monitor the schools to ensure that the teachers that are not teaching are tracked down.
He however said that they will engage the teachers to know why they are not attending to duty and address it but encourage teachers to be dedicated to their profession as it is a noble profession that will earn them a lot of blessings.
A-Z newspaper reliably learnt that some of the teachers who have been absent from school are engaged in the voter registration process.
However, some staff of Electoral commission in Bo upon speaking to this medium on the condition of anonymity said that they did not employ teachers but voter registration officers to execute the electoral process.
