Residents of Bumpeh Ngao Chiefdom in Bo District have called on President Julius Maada Bio to ensure a speedy reconstruction of their bridge as their economic activities are still hampered by the collapse of the Bumpeh Tabe Bridge.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper, the resident of Bumpeh said that “the boat transportation provided as an alternative measure is not bad but is eating into their finances as they have to pay.
Jatu Kposowa said that “we want to thank God for the speedy intervention to provide the alternative means for their movement but we want the bridge including the road to be reconstructed as earlier as possible.”
Madam Kposowa said that “we know that President Bio is a talk and do the president and we want him to do thorough monitoring of the work done on the road to ensure that the work is not delayed.
Others said it is the road that leads to President Bio’s village, Tihun in the Bonthe district and that they are expecting him to ensure that hindrances towards the road leading to his village are cleared.
Joseph Kapia, another resident of Bumpeh said that ‘’ the economic activities of the people is key and that something needs to be done about the road. It needs to be fixed up quickly ahead of the 2023 elections as failure to do it hurts the votes in the chiefdom.
He said ‘’Bumpeh is the stronghold of the SLPP but that does not mean the people should be neglected in getting a good road as the election is about service delivery.
Kapia however said ‘’even though we will vote for SLPP massive, the bridge needs to be fixed up and the bridge collapsing somehow affected the registration process even though later is going on well, adding that ‘’ we are grateful to President Bio for the appointment of Emma Kowa as Minister of Fisheries and former Police boss, Mr. Ambrose Sovula to be part of his government.
