The Criminal Investigations Department of the Bo East Police Division is currently investigating nine male suspects over an alleged robbery with aggravation on Thursday 8 September 2022 at the New England Ville and Koribondo Highway Communities in Bo District.
According to the Bo East Divisional Crime Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police, Titus Vandi said the investigation mounted so far has led to the retrieving from suspects items like two (2) sets of 32 inches plasma televisions, Android and button mobile phones claimed by complainants, quantities of free health care drugs and also dangerous offensive weapons were all found in possession of suspects.
He said the nine suspects had been cautioned and questioned but there are still processes to follow before they are charged to court.
On his part, the head of the Bo East Operations team, Assistant Superintendent of Police, John Hinga Magay commended his personnel and by extension the Community Safety Volunteers (CSV) for the assertiveness in apprehending the nine (9) suspects.
“I answered a distressed call from the New England community that Armed Robbers had attacked them. I wasted no time in getting there with my men. Upon arrival, we were able to arrest three (3) suspects with the help of some Community Safety Volunteers and the remaining six (6) were brought in.” he said.
He mentioned the nine suspects including Mohammed Conteh alias Citizen, Mamud Conteh, Abu Magona, Yusuf Jalloh, Sulaiman Mansaray, Samba Jalloh, Ibrahim Koroma, Mohamed Jalloh and Mustapha Nallo alias Bigger Grave that are currently under investigation.
According to the Southern Region Deputy Media officer of the Sierra Leone Police, Police Constable Alhaji Osman Mansaray, complainants were able to identify the nine (9) arrested suspects who put them under gunpoint and stripped them stack necked, urging them to bring out all the money they had in their possessions. The robbers carted away millions of old Leones, and valuable properties from three different locations and also wounded some victims.
“Edna Mamawa Brima, Sallay Fawunda, Margaret Umu Fawundu, Agnes Bannister, Mamawa Fawundu all of Koribondo highway, and Chief Maada Farma of New England are complainants in this above matter,” he said
