Alleged Lungi rioters, Lamin Kessebeh and four others were charged for three counts offences of disorderly behaviour riotous conduct, and throwing missiles contrary law.
According to the particulars of offences, on Wednesday 10th August, 2022 at Lungi in Kaffubulom Chiefdom in Port Loko District, the accused did behave in a riotous and disorderly manner and were found throwing missiles.
Led in evidence by Sergeant 9939 Lahai M, third Prosecution witness (PW3) inspector Sidi Kalilu Mansaray and was cross examination by defence counsel Lansana Dumbuya.
Responding to questions from the Defence Counsel the witness said the investigation started in Lungi and ended in Freetown at the Criminal Investigation Department and further adds that the first accused denied the allegation.
PW3 said the accused told him that he was arrested when the situation was under control and that he is tailor by profession.
Pw3 said though the witness told them that he went to visit his customers on the said date they were unable to investigate, and that witness was arrested alone.
According to the 4th accused person he told the police that in the morning hours his younger brother was not at home he went in search of his younger brother, the witness affirmed.
At this point, the prosecution closed their case while the defence counsel Lansana Dumbuya and F.Kotu Esq told the bench that they intend to open their defence.
Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male correctional Centre in Freetown, and matter was adjourned to the 8th September 2022.
