The outgone 3 Infantry Brigade Commander Major General D Alpha, on Friday the 2nd September 2022, handed over office to his successor; Brigadier General AS Bockarie at the 3 Infantry Brigade Headquarters Murray Town Barracks. The three Infantry Brigade covers Freetown, Lungi and Kambia.
In his handing over statement, Major General D Alpha expressed profound thanks and appreciation to all his officers for their indelible support when he was heading the 3 Infantry Brigade. He also encouraged the officers to replicate similar support to the new Commander with undying commitment and loyalty. Major General D Alpha also advised the officers and men of the 3 Infantry Brigade to continue being apolitical. “I advise all officers to remain apolitical and bring our ideas and talents to bear to create a synergy”, he advised.
The incoming 3 Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier General AS Bockarie, thanked his predecessor for the warm reception and promised to continue his good works. He also urged officers and men of the Brigade to “be part of the solution and not the problem”. He also assured officers and men that his leadership philosophy in his office would be humility and iron discipline.
During the ceremony at the 3 Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Murry Town, the outgoing Commander, Major General D Alpha received a Quarter Guard Parade after which, in return officially handed over the 3 Brigade flag of office to his successor.
Major General D Alpha also made a conducted tour with his successor around the Brigade Headquarters. The occasion was climaxed with a joyful solemn traditional military procession out of the barracks led by the Military Police vehicle and the outgoing Commander in the back of a pick-up van bidding farewell to his officers and men on either side of the street as his vehicle was slowly driven out of the Brigade Headquarters.
