The Minister of Information and Communications, Honourable Mohamed Rahman Swaray has disclosed that parents have not surfaced to reunite with their children caught during the August 10 insurrection.
Speaking at Press Conference held at the SLBC 96.5FM in Bo Conference Hall on Monday, Mr. Swaray said that kids as young as twelve years old were brought from other parts of the country including Binkolor, Kamakwei, Makeni, Lungi and about twenty-eight of them were arrested.
He said that preliminary statements have been obtained from them and they have been handed over to the ministry of social welfare and the ministry is now working with all child protection agencies to ensure that they receive psycho-social support.
“We are calling on the parents to come forward and be reunified with their children and many are reluctant to come forward despite the assurances given to them they will not be arrested,” said Minister Swarray.
