The popularity of the infamous Adebayor has dwindled after hundreds of Sierra Leoneans lost their lives on August 10 2022, as a result of one of his inciting comments on social media.
In Makeni, people who listened to his audio, released on Sunday did not heed to his advice that they should not come out on Monday 29th, 2022.
In an interview with this medium, Madam Isata Conteh, a trader on Station Road, said she sees no sense for people to hold a sit down strike because of politics or the call of one individual who is not even residing in the country.
Sulaiman Kabia, an Okada rider plying the routes between Makeni and Magburaka said it is foolishness for people to listen to Adebayor’s utterances.
He said there is no gain in sitting down and having a family to take care of on a daily bases.
“I was the first one to be at the park on Monday morning”, he revealed to A-Z.
Usifu Sankoh, a Businessman at the main Provincial Lorry Park, along Rogbaneh Road said they have learned from the past and they are not going to do what he says.
Former All Peoples Congress (APC) party supporter who has switched over her allegiance to the ruling SLPP, Madam Mariama Kamara said people have to wise up these days because it’s not like the past when they foolishly take all sort of advice coming from opposition platforms.
She said in fact there is no reason for people to sit at home; adding that she is satisfied with the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio whom he said has been trying to cushion the economic effects Covid-19 has unleashed on the country.
Chernoh Bah, an attire seller at Binta Street together with a host of guys condemned the idea of a sit down strike.
As for Mamud Koroma, he said it has come to the time that Adebayor is treated like “black plastic bag”.
“What did he do for those that lost their lives on August 10 2022 or for those in detention?, was the question asked by petty traders.
Alimatu Turay, who sells learning materials opposite the clock tower, informed this medium that business was good for her as plenty customers had bought from her items for the opening of schools. She said there is no sign of a sit down strike as people are going about their business as usual.
The Traders Union office in Makeni, which is always empty, has maintained on telephone that there is relative peace and calm within the business sector.
