The Sierra Leone Football Association has on the 28th February, 2021 kick starts its National Preliminary Play Offs for Division teams within the Country. A total of ten teams each in five different venues will be playing across the country.
According to the head of Competitions at the Sierra Leone Football Association, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, the decision for this tournament was reached at Congress in Port Loko, where Executive Committee members agreed that four teams should be added to the fourteen existing Premier League teams making a total of eighteen teams in the national Football League.
Below is a summary of how the first -leg of matches will be unfolding as there is going to be two legs in this first stage:
At the Siaka Stevens Stadium, LUAWA Football FC played with ESTATE CONTRACTORS Football. After full 90 minutes the match ended in deadlock as both teams failed to secure a goal.
At the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium Kissy All Stars Football Club secured a second half goal from the penalty spot which was enough to deny Real Mack Football club a win in the first leg.
However, Real Mack Football club took the lead in the first half through a nice finish from Solomon Lewis, who took a good strike from the penalty box to put his side ahead. After the break in the second half, Kissy All Stars fought back to score from the penalty spot as it ended 1-1.
According to the Head Coach of Kissy All Stars, Ibrahim Zola Saccoh, “ I am satisfied with the result of the first leg although my boys got many chances but failed to convert them,” He said he is optimistic to qualify to the next stage of the play Offs.
While the Head Coach of Real Mack, Bai Bangura shifted the blame of not securing more goals due to poor pitch, but expressed confidence that his team will qualify to the next stage.
At Bo Coronation Field, Edmond Michael Foundation Football club suffered a two one (2-1) defeat in the hands of WANJAMA Stars. They scored two early goals in the first half but Edmond Michael Foundation Football club bounced back with a goal deficit.
At the Kono mini Stadium, Golf Football club trashed Sea Side Rangers by six goals to nil; with the four goals in the first half and two more goals in the second half. There was no goal in reply.
At the Kenema Town field, Kahunla Rangers scored two early goals which were enough to defeat Sky Eagles Football by two goals to one (2-1). The returned leg matches will be played on Tuesday at 4:30 PM at five different venue
