The President of the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association, Mrs. Maltida Doris Sellu has engaged a cross-section of the Mammy Queens in the Western Area and some other senior members of the Association, among other things to chat the wayward of giving a beefing burial to the six police officers who died in the August 10 violent protest.
The engagement took place at the Vocational and Institute Training Center, Kingdom Police Barracks, in Freetown on Saturday 20th August, 2022,
Mrs. Sellu entreated them to frankly deliberate on the dress code for the burial ceremony of the six (6) police personnel that were brutally murdered on the 10th of August 2022, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 23rd August 2022, at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA), Hastings Campus.
After frank deliberations, it was unanimously agreed that for uniformity of police wives, they should be dressed in white and black head-tie, so as to signify the Association’s mourning of the death of the six police personnel.
Mrs. Sellu thanked and welcomed all and sundry to the meeting and urged attendees to put aside their individual differences and appealed for them to work as a team, towards the development of the Association.
“I alone cannot run the Association effectively, so it is the collaborative effort of everyone to unify as a team and push forward the development of the Association”, she noted.
She cautioned all and sundry to be mindful of what to do and be respectful to each other irrespective of their husband’s positions.
Few Executive Positions were democratically filled by the following people including, Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association that went to Mrs. Ramatu Jalloh and Assistant Secretary General was occupied by Mrs. Faudie Kargbo. Treasurer position was clinched by Mrs. Zainab Williams while the Financial Secretary was secured by Mrs. Honour Kamara.
Organizing Secretary went to Mrs. Salamatu Thomas, and Assistant Organizing Secretary occupied by Mrs. Isatu Kargbo.
Publicity Secretary was clinched by Mrs. M. B Kamara, and Assistant Publicity Secretary was occupied by Mrs. T. M Lahai.
Auditor’s positions went to Mrs. Zainab Mambu and Mrs. Alice Turay respectively. Advisers were Mrs. Kadija Kanneh and Mrs. Ramatu Hanciles respectively.
Unanimously, it was agreed to plan for a nationwide tour of all the Police Barracks so as to better acquaint themselves with other police wives; which according to Mrs. Sellu, is aimed at fostering unity and oneness among the rank and file of all the police wives.
“And that the tour will afford them the opportunity to see them in person, discuss, and chat the way forward”, she added.
Mrs. Maltida Sellu further maintained that proper planning should be put in place with regards the tour, scheduled for, after the burial ceremony.
Comments and contributions were made by Mammy Queens in a form of praises lavished on Mrs. Sellu for her charismatic leadership strides and laudable initiative.
Meanwhile, they pledged their maximum support to work hand in glove with Mrs. Sellu for the development of the Association.
Climaxing the meeting was the vote of thanks moved by Mrs. Faudie Kargbo, the Assistant Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association.
