As peace and tranquility return to the northern region of Sierra Leone following days of illegal demonstrations in APC strongholds, the Chairman, of the Council of Tribal Heads, Alimamy Mohammed Yayah Sillah has made a clarion call for peace and unity to prevail in the country.
As the Fullah Tribal Head for the north and also the Coordinator for Tribal Heads in the region, Chief Sillah has said the ruling government should be given chance to rule, noting as prescribed in the 1991 Constitution which makes provision for election every five years, the only way to remove a seating President is by the ballot box and not by the use of the bullet or illegal demonstrations like the ones that took place in the region, recently.
Despite the grumbling on the lips of some people, the President has been working hard to revamp the economic hardship wrecked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine”, the Fullah Tribal Head for the north, Chief Sillah stated, during an exclusive interview at his Masuba Street barray. He called for a massive turnout during the forthcoming voter registration process, noting that it is an opportunity for citizens to vote for continuity or regime change.
He argued that although people are grumbling over the status quo, the government of President Bio can pay salaries on time and roll out Free Quality Education for the betterment of the country. He said regionalism or tribalism should have no space in society adding that it is incumbent upon citizens to support the government of the day to take development to the doorstep of the citizens.
In terms of trade, he maintained that those in the cattle business are seeing enormous benefits despite everything informing that the price of meat is much cheaper here than in the neighboring countries.
