Wife, Husband, 3 others Jailed for Alleged Murder

24yrs old Mai Dumbuya a business woman, 21yrs old Tamba Lebbie a student, 25yrs old Alfred Kargbo a Footballer, 34yrs old Ishmael Samura a Artist and 31yrs old Peter Kalokoh a Masoner made their first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit murder contrary to section 4 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and Murder contrary to law.

According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 5th May 2022 at big water, main peninsular Road the western area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown and murdered Memunatu Bangura on count two at the same place and date the accused persons murdered Memunatu Bangura.

The charges were read and explained to the accused persons no plea taken

The accused persons were represented by Emmanuel Teddy Koroma, M.H Bangura, and D. Barrie.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of police Ibrahim S Mansaray Prosecution witness number one Husband to the deceased Issa Koroma a Petty trader said he recognized all the first and second accused  persons as husband and  wife and the third to fifth accused persons as the boys of the first accused person.

 He recalled on the 8th May 2022 on the said date he was at his business place main road big water something transpired between himself and the accused persons.

 The witness said he was with his wife at his business place around 2am his wife told him that she is tired and he left at the business place and she went home, in the morning hours around 5am he went home.

 The witness said he saw lot of blood in his house and he was panic he went into the veranda and he saw blood all over.

 He pushed his door and he met his wife lying naked her throat was cut off and her eyes was removed.

 At the scene he called brother of the deceased Mr Foday call the police on their arrival they arrested the second accused person and brought the second accused person at the scene of crime at that time the second accused person wear a white cloth which was stain with blood all over, the witness said the police also arrested the 1st, and 4th accused persons and the witness said his wife was taken to Connaught Hospital for postmortem he made statement at Tokeh police station

Counsel representing the accused person, Emmanuel Teddy Koroma seeks for a short adjournment date.

 However, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent both accused persons to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 26th August 2022.
