Youths of Makeni and Kerene in the northern region have been warned to distant themselves from political violence or riot and wait until election if they want a change of power rather than unleashing unspeakable havoc in the name of demonstration.
Issuing a stern and well calculated warning, on one of the community radio stations in Makeni, John A.M. Bangura called on the youths of Makeni and Kerene to wise up and allow peace and development to continue in the region. “Wait for the ballot box if you want to remove President Bio not by terrorism or violence”, said the politician, describing the recent terrorist attack in opposition strongholds as unfortunate.
He said the best way the President of Sierra Leone can be removed from power is by the ballot box not by the bullet or unlawful demonstrations. He admonished the youths not to allow opposition politicians to fool or drug them up for their political gains. He said for now, President Bio is the Head of State and should be allowed to rule his term as the Constitution provides.
He said what the suffering people are talking about is worldwide; considering the impacts of the global economic meltdown, he further analyzed, pointing out that despite the economic situation, the SLPP Government is trying so much to cushion the unsatisfactory economy situation.
He also called on the youths to engage in themselves in income generating activities rather than allowing greedy politicians to misuse them for pittances, sometimes for drugs.
Meanwhile, supporters of the ruling party have been trying to explain to pro – opposition supporters about the need to keep the peace and wait for the ballot box on election day. According to a stakeholder at Kabala Park, in Makeni city, the ruling party under the current president stands a chance to win the forthcoming election which is less than a year from now.
