22 yrs-old Locence Kayode Oluyemi a Nigerian national has made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two counts charge of Money to be paid contrary to section 32 (1) (2) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Wednesday 27th July 2022 at Hotel Mariam Aberdeen the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud conspired together with other persons unknown to defraud Tijjani Zubairu Gambo the sum of three thousand five hundred United State dollars(3,500) equivalent to forty-nine thousand Leones(49,000,00), and on count two on the same date at Youyi building Brookfields the Western Area in Freetown Fraudulently caused Tijjani Zubairu Gambo to pay the sum of three thousand five hundred United State dollars (3,500) equivalent to forty nine thousand Leones(49,000) to Ibrahim Lacho purported to be a gold exporter.
The charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea taken.
The prosecution informed the Bench that his witness was absent and seeks for a short adjournment date.
Counsel representing the accused person Abdul Aziz Bah applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that the accused person is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf; he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses and made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
However, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown. Matter was adjourned to the 24th August 2022, while Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai prosecuting the Matter.
