The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone has actively received some items donated by the People’s Republic of China, through the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, on Thursday 28th July 2022.
The items received were, Five Huawei Pads, One Conference Table and Twelve Conference Chairs, One Office Table and One Office Chair, Two Printers (P1106), and Two Cartridges.
In his statement, Li Xiaoyong, Deputy Chinese Ambassador, expressed his enthusiasm in working with the Sierra Leone Government as both Nations have built a solid friendship that now feels like family.
Li Xiaoyong mentioned that the Chinese Embassy has been working with the ECSL because they value the role they play in the democracy of the country. He added that, the Chinese Embassy has been working with different sectors as well and has been playing their role in the economic and social affairs of the country.
Deputy Ambassador Li Xiayong further stated that, they are ecstatic in working with the Sierra Leone Government, therefore, they are always willing to help in whatever way they can, to help make Sierra Leone a better Country. He officially handed over the items to the ECSL Commissioner, who received the items with pride and joy on behalf of the entire ECSL Management.
The Commissioner for the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone, Mohamed Kenewai Konneh, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for their kind gesture in providing them with these items, as they are much needed items for the ECSL.
He further mentioned that these items were as a result of a request from the ECSL, asking for a donation from the Chinese Embassy to aid the institution with these items. The request was made on the 14th June 2022 and barely one month after, the Chinese Embassy made do on their promise by delivering the items that were requested for by the ECSL.
Commissioner Konneh renders his gratitude and appreciation to the Chinese government for these donations, especially because they were right on time, as the items were delivered just about the time when their regional offices are near completion.
