Even if president Bio transforms Sierra Leone akin to Singapore, APC supporters would never be enthralled. Contrary to the reality, they would go the extent of aping to the whole world that president Bio has botched the nation. Their calculated agenda to discredit the new direction government is decipherable even by people who are spiritless about Sierra Leone politics.
In the past week, APC agents and lineages were mobilized in London to disrepute the president on the shores of the former colonial master whose confidence on the Bio led cannot be soiled. Initially, the bunch of miscreants was afforded with police security as they processed to the Sierra Leone high commission in London. Later, an overdrive attempt to march to Westminster boomeranged.
The Scotland Yard could no longer put up with the false alarm and disorderly behavior. They were immobilized with teargas cannon and the spraying of water. Their chants and overtones to ill repute the president cannot be substantiated in the estimation of the British government officials, who are avid followers of the changes taking place in Sierra Leone.
As a member of the common wealth, who could be more knowledgeable about issues in Sierra Leone than the UK government? Apart from their high commission at Spur Road in Freetown, there are many British Non-governmental organizations and agencies operating in Sierra Leone.
This means Westminster and No10. Downing Street is regularly updated about happenings and policy changes in Sierra Leone. No one could lie to the British government. Therefore, the mendacious attempt to discredit the Bio led government is an exercise in futility.
No one is abreast of developments in Sierra Leone than the British government. Thus, the APC miscreants in London must focus on what they do best. Let them focus on washing dishes and corpses and use the proceeds to support their families back home and forget about slurring president Bio in London.
It is nice to end with a quote from the British Minister for Africa, Victoria Grace Ford. This is not diplomatic talk. She could not veil her impression of President Bio and his government.
“Your Excellency, thank you for your leadership. This is so amazing. Even in the midst of the Coronavirus, you were able to do what many developed countries couldn’t do. That is the right thing to do. The establishment of the One-Stop Center, the Gender Empowerment Law, the Sexual Offences Model Court, the repeal of the seditious libel law and most importantly, the abolition of the death penalty,” she stated.
This first hand witness endorsement of the Bio led government is sufficient enough to take the APC villains off the streets of London. APC Londoners must focus on their odd jobs; the British government has already endorsed president Bio for second term.
