The first batch of Sierra Leonean pilgrims will arrive at the Lungi International Airport on Friday 22nd July, according to Abubakarr Bah the Press Attaché at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

941 people attended the 1443/2022 hajj from the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Abubakarr Bah, the Press Attaché has confirmed that the second batch will arrive on 23rd whilst the final batch of Alhajis and Hajas will land on 25th July.

He described this year’s hajj programme as a big success noting that the Embassy as well as the Hajj Committee did extremely well in making the atmosphere very conducive for those who were fortunate to attend the hajj from Sierra Leone.

It could be recalled that nine intended pilgrims were repatriated on July 7th due to immigration issues.

“The Embassy staff and the Hajj Committee did their level best to rectify the issue so that they could perform the hajj”, the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh had said.

He noted that it was unfortunate and that those were sent back should sum up courage and leave everything in the hands of God Almighty.

The government through the support of the Saudi government extended hundreds of invitations to Sierra Leoneans to give them the opportunity to serve the Almighty creator.

Osman Kamara, a native of Mile 91 informed this medium that their father who is the Imam of their community Masjid was amongst those that benefited from the hajj scholarship. He said it could have been difficult for his father to raise the money to perform hajj.
