After he allegedly galvanized youths to protest against the Government of Sierra Leone, Magistrate Sahr Kekura on the 19th July 2022remanded Elijah Dauda at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

According to the police, the accused, Elijah Dauda, on Tuesday 12th July 2022, at Sengbeh Pieh Bridge, Juba Hill in Freetown, incited the public to commit the breach of the peace against the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Consequently, the accused is faced with one count charge of incitement contrary to law.

The accused pleaded not guilty after the charges were read and explained to him.

Sergeant 9155 Dwight Marcathy is prosecuting the matter, while lawyer S. M. Kargbo appeared for the accused.

Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Marcathy intimated to the Court that he has not had a conference with the witness. He, therefore, requested an adjournment.

On the other hand, lawyer S.M Kargbo requested bail for and on behalf of his client. He canvassed his bail plea pursuant to Section 79(3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965. He also cited the interpretation act of the Bail Regulation of 2018.

Magistrate Sahr Kekura noted that the address of the accused is vague. He remanded him and adjourned the matter to the 25th of July 2022.
