The high court in Magburaka town Tonkolili District presided over by Justice Unisa Kamara has Jailed four men for sexual penetration in the said district.
Justice Unisa Kamara sentenced the four men during the criminal special session holding in Magburaka town Tonkolili Judicial District Northern Province.
According to the particulars of offence on the 5th February 2022 in Tonkolili Judicial District Northern Province in the republic of Sierra Leone, a 27 year old man sexually penetrated a 12 year old girl. Testifying before the court, the survivor’s grand mother said she left her granddaughter at home and travelled hoping that the child will go to school on Monday morning. According to report when she was not around the 27 yrs old man invited the 12 yrs old girl in his bed room and penetrated her.
Upon the arrival people in the neighbouring houses, the police was arrested and they arrested the convict and handed him over to the Sierra Leone Police whilst the 12yrs old girl was taken to the hospital for medical check-up.
Meanwhile, the medical report revealed that the girl was penetrated by the 27 yrs old man. This was admitted by the man in question whilst making his appearance before Justice Unisa Kamara on Monday 27th June 2022, the man in question pleaded guilty; Justice Unisa Kamara sentenced him to 10yrs imprisonment for the offence of sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences act of 2012.
The 27yrs old man is presently serving his 10yrs jailed term at the Magburaka correctional centre.
On the 27th May,2022 in Tanneh Chiefdom Tonkolili Judicial District in the republic of Sierra Leone another 25yrs old man sexually penetrated 19yrs old girl.
On the same date the accused also penetrated a 12 year old girl, he was arrested by Police and detained.
Making his appearance before the high court judge the 25 yrs old man pleaded guilty and asked for mercy.
For the first file the convict`s lawyer, Lawyer Kori pleaded mitigation and asked for mercy because the accused has two files.
However, the high court Judge sentenced the 25yrs old man accordingly for the first file he was sentenced for 10 yrs jail term on one count charge of sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences act number 12 of 2012.
For the second file, he was sentenced 10yrs for the offences of aggravated sexual assault contrary to the sexual offences act number 12 of 2012, the 25yrs old man is presently serving his 20 yrs Jailed term at the at the Magburaka correctional centre.
In another development on the 7th May 2022, in Magburaka Town Tonkolili Judicial District Northern Province, Republic of Sierra Leone a 17 yr old boy sexually penetrated a 15 yr Old girl.
Testifying before the court the 15 yrs old Girl said when her family was not around the 17 yrs old boy dragged her in his room and penetrated her.
Police arrested the 17 yrs old boy and he was placed in police custody.
Testifying before the high court Judge Justice Unisa Kamara on Wednesday 29th June 2022. He pleaded guilty and asked for mercy.
Justice Unisa Kamara sentenced him to 10 yrs Jailed term for the offence of sexual penetration of a girl child contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences acts Number 12 of 2012. The boy is currently serving his jailed term at the aforesaid correctional centre.
State Council A.Y. Mansaray prosecuted the matter. Lawyer M. Korie and Lawyer A.O. Kamara stood as defence council for the convict.
