28yrs old Annie George “alias Deportee”, 29yrs Abdul Senesie “alias Shargun”, 23yrs old Samuel Forbie “alias Face” and 22yrs old Sidie Turay “alias Paris’ made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on four court charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, possession of small Arm without licence contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of offence on Wednesday 1st June 2022 at Cole Town in the Waterloo judicial district the western area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit possession of small Arm without licence, on count two at the same place and date the first accused person was found in possession of one black and brown Makaror pistol without licence on count three the first accused person was found in possession of five rounds of ammunition without licence on count four all accused persons were found loitering with intent to commit a felony.
Assistant Superintendent of police Christiana Davies Cole Esq led the second Prosecution witness (PW2) Sergeant 9715 Augustine Robert Lansana attached to the Major Incident Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department Pademba road Freetown.
PW2 said he recognise all the accused persons and recalled on the 9th day of June 2022 that he was on duty at the said office when he received a case and enquiry file from the Anti-Robbery special squad together with all accused persons. The witness said he received a bag that contains one black and brown magarot pistol one magazine that contains five rounds ammunition and a green and black touch light.
PW2 said said on the 10th June 2022 himself and DPC 13835 Sesay obtained voluntary caution statements from all the accused persons separately, the accused persons were caution and question in krio language separately which he recorded down in English at the end of the caution statement it was read over and explained to the accused persons which they afflicting their right hand thumbprint witness by Dpc 13835 Sesay and he signed as the recorder since then the statement was been in the custody of the police it was produce and tendered in court.
The witness said he handed the exhibit to the exhibit clerk and that on the 25th June 2022 himself and DPC 15083 Mansaray A.S charge the accused persons separately with the offences they now stand trials; the charge statement was produced and tendered in court .
The witness was cross examined by the accused persons.
Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male correctional centre in Freetown and adjourned to the 20th July 2022 for further hearing.
