Minister of Basic Secondary School Education updated the Press on the outcome of the National Primary School Education results during the weekly press briefing on Thursday 14th July 2022 at the Youyi Building, Freetown.
David Moinina Sengeh, Minister of Basic Secondary School Education said this year’s publication of the NPSE results marked the earliest ever since after half a decade; adding that out of one hundred and sixty-seven thousand pupils who sat the examination, 87.2 per cent passed with more girls leading the passing grades.
He disclosed that 92 per cent of pupils in Falaba District that took the examination had above 230, which serves as the threshold. ‘’There is a high level of consistency in the NPSE examination results across the country,’’ David Moinina Sengeh affirmed.
He revealed that the commitment of President Bio was to ensure every school-going pupil in Sierra Leone attained a free quality education. He said the regional results demography captured high performances from the North, South and Eastern regions respectively.
Minister Sengeh stated that the Free Quality School Education has brought scores of improvements in the educational system in Sierra Leone with more people including the disabled having an excellent performance as they go through the ranks of basic education.
He said over six hundred thousand pupils are having the school feeding meal every day, especially in the provinces, and there has been moderate transportation facility that takes pupils from their strategic locations to their various schools. David Sengeh reaffirmed that these are some of the composites of President Bio’s flagship program among others.
He revealed that the Result Checker had eradicated the cost of buying scratch cards to check for results, particularly for parents who do not have money to afford it. Minister Sengeh said the platform is free and effective for every pupil within the country. He urged teachers to remain cooperative in their delivery as they continue to improve the conditions of service.
