On the 5th July 2022, a case of 22 years old Amadu Sulaiman Kargbo was reported to the Kambia Police Division Headquarters by one Haja Kamara of Roberay Section, Kambia 2 (deceased Mother) to have been murdered and left in a swampy area at the back of Hotel Moriya, Magbema Chiefdom, Kambia district.

Upon the information received from the deceased mother, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Abu Bakar Magona together with his Support Officer Superintendent Desmond Koroma and a personnel from the office of National Security Coordinator, Ahmed Tejan Sandy left the police station to visit the scene of crime.

On arrival at the scene of crime, the information officer at the Kambia Police Division Claudius Moses Gray said they discovered the remains of Amadu Sulaiman Kargbo lying in a swamp with fresh blood stained and wounds all over his body.

He said snap shorts and videos were taken for the records.

The remains of Amadu Sulaiman Kargbo were conveyed to Kambia Government Hospital at the Mortuary department for further Medical examination.

Claudius Moses Gray further explained that according to findings the deceased Amadu Sulaiman Kargbo went to a certain house in Rogberay town to purchase cigarettes, after he had bought the cigarette returning home, he was alleged to have stolen a mobile phone and that resulted in his beaten to death.

Three (3) Suspects were arrested and are presently in custody helping the police with the Investigation.

According to information an autopsy was conducted by the district government medical and the findings were handed over to the Police team, while the remains were handed over to the deceased family for burial. 

On their way to arrange for the burial ceremony, a large crowd including relatives of the deceased escorted the corpse of Amadu Sulaiman Kargbo to the station protesting against the police that they no longer interested in late Amadu Sulaiman Kargbo’s remains, but demanding that snapshots should be taken with alleged perpetrators, however, their request was denied. 

Upon denying their request, they dropped the remains of the deceased in front of the station and started using abusive language against the police.

With the intervention of the local Unit, Commander LUC Chief Superintendent of Police Abu Bakar Magona and the operations team were able to disperse the crowd.

After few seconds, it was reported that the disgruntled youths went and burn down the house of the alleged suspects that were in custody of the police.

Police immediately responded to the scene of crime and arrested four suspects relating to the house burning, while the deceased is yet to be laid to rest due to some concerns from the family as they strongly called out for Justice.
