Police Officers attached to the Trans-National Crime Unit of the Sierra Leone Police at the Bo West Police Division in the Southern Region is currently investigating two people, Ahmed Sherriff Senesie and Lahai Musa on the allegations of unlawful possession of cannabis-sativa commonly called ‘jamba’.
According to the Regional Media Officer of the Sierra Leone Police in the South, Mohamed Bobson Senu, on Friday 19 February 2021, Police attached at the Koribondo Checkpoint intercepted and searched a vehicle with the Liberia registration number, AC 2384 and discovered huge quantity of Marijuana. The vehicle was in control of Ahmed Sheriff Senesie.
Sierra Leone has become the biggest supply source of marijuana to Liberia, it has been revealed.
The police officers attached to the Koribondo checkpoint arrested the vehicle and those onboard. They are currently helping the Police with the investigation and the matter has been transferred to the Transnational Crime Unit.
Inspector Senu said that the Koribondo checkpoint is strategically placed and that it links the southern part of Sierra Leone to Liberia.
