The Head of Communications at the Sierra Leone Football Association, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay has informed the A-Z Newspaper that the National Football Play Offs will kick start Sunday February 2021 and end on the 2nd March 2021.
According to Sorie Ibrahim Sesay the decision for the Play Offs was reached at the Congress in Port Loko. It was agreed that four teams to be added in the Play Offs. Already, there are fourteen teams in the Country top flight League; the four teams added will round the number to 18 teams.
The Director of Competitions warns that any team that happens to make it after the play Offs should be in good position to meet the club Licenses requirements which are:
1. A Good financial management system- that is the club should be able to pay it players on a monthly basis and should able to run the administration of the of the club
2. The club should have a playing venue as club on it own and ready to host matches with standard facilities.
3. A well-constructed football Secretariat that will able to administer the club.
These are some of the measures in the club Licenses requirements which club should be met if not that club will not be promoted to the Country top flights League which is the Premier League.
A-Z Sports has gathered that all the clubs in the Play Offs are aware of this and it is just a matter of compliance from them. SLFA has the mandate to enforce these norms which consistent with international standard.
SLFA takes cognizance of the economic meltdown of the COVID 19 and its impact on clubs that will make difficult to adhere to all requirements.
