The Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor will be departing Monrovia on the 28th June 2022 for a weeklong Official visit to the Republic of Sierra Leone for a sexual and health Rights conference under the invitation of the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Fatima Bio.
This gracious occasion which will take place in Freetown will be the 10th Africa Conference on Sexual and Health Rights and the Vice President, Madam Howard-Taylor will be delivering a solidarity Statement at the opening ceremony on the theme “Accelerating the Elimination of Sexual and Gender Based Violence in Africa”.
The conference will be hosted by Purposeful Organization with the First Lady, Fatima Bio as Chief Patron. This conference brings together more than 900 participants from across the continent, including Liberia to engender discussions on the issues of sexual health, human rights, gender-based violence and the empowerment of women and youth.
During her visit in Sierra Leone, Madam Taylor will also be holding meetings with the Vice President of Sierra Leone Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and other top officials of the Government of Sierra Leone, the Ambassador and Staff of the Embassy of Liberia in Freetown and Liberian Students studying at The Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
Since Liberia and Sierra Leone shares a similar historical background as both Nations are the homes of descendants of freed slaves and also shares similarities in political history of civil conflicts, these factors has resulted to both Nations understanding each other properly and had thus have a long-standing diplomatic relations and had signed a “non-aggression “pact in 2007, paving the way for more cordial diplomatic relationship between them.
