The Minister of Sports Ibrahim Nylenkeh has revealed that the government of Sierra Leone will fund next year’s, Premier League with 4 billion Leones.

He made this statement during the Bo Rangers Football Club Trophy rally in Bo City, he noted that his Ministry has been out pleading with corporate institutions, lobbying, and advocating to aiding board and helping the Premier League board so that they can run a successful league.

He affirmed that during the last Premier League the government gave the sum of 1.5 billion Leones as support to the Premier League board, but the money came late, and come the next League there will be 4 billion Leones for the next League.

He further that they are going to do a combination of the 1.5 plus the 2.5 billion making it 4 billion and  that money will be given to the next Premier League board to run the Premier League come September this year.

He noted the Government of the President Julius Maada Bio is so personate about the sport that why he is ready to support all the Sports in the Country not only Football but all Sporting disciplining in the Country. He said the past Premier League Government has helped to support them with a substantial amount to run a professional League in the Country and it will also continue in that same direction and there are plans to improve the footballing arena, as at Present the Siaka Stevens Stadium is under renovation by the Chinese government and it going to get better facilities.

The Last Sierra Leone Premier League faces many Challenges because of funding and the board starved to perform many of its functions and at some point, teams had to postponed matches because of lack of funding to honor fixtures, and the clubs are facing challenges and that is clear as some are finding difficult to attract sponsorship which is core in a football club.
