The Leone Star of Sierra Leone has played its second AFCON qualifying match against Guinea Bissaua at the Stade General Lansana Conte in Guinea. Leone Stars went into the match after losing three points in a 2:1 defeat against the Super Eagles of Nigeria over the weekend.

According to Sporting pundits who described the game as a nerves cracking encounter between both team should have a been a must win game for the home side (Leone Stars), while the
Djurtus of Guinea Bissua are comfortably seating at the second position of the group with four points with a win and a draw.

However, coach Kiester made three changes from the 2-1 defeat in Nigeria, Kelvin Wright came in for Emmanuel Samadia, John Kamara was replaced by Kamil Conteh, and even with his goal in Nigeria Jonathan Morsay was replaced Amadou Bakayoko.

Leone Stars failed to convert several chances during the first half of play and at the end of the first half, the Leone stars were still impressive with total control and dominance, and fantastic football was also at its peak. In the 46th minute, Musa Kamara’s superb short was stylistically saved by the goalkeeper which resulted in a corner kick and Steven Caulker’s header went wide, ending the first half at one a piece.

Unfortunately, five into the second half, Leone stars conceded two goals when the left back Kelvin Wright slips and that was an opportunity for Guinea-Bissau side to net a second goal in the 50th minute to make it 2-0. In the 54th minute, a red card was shown to Sana Gomes of Guinea-Bissau for a foul on Bkayoko out of the eighteen-yard box that resulted to a free-kick which the Leone stars could not covert.

The Leone stars continue pressing with frustration, at this point a change was imminent, with Keister withdrawing Kelvin Wright for Sulaiman Kaikai. The pitch continues to be an obstacle for the Leone Stars.

Buya Turay was withdrawn for Augustus Kargbo in the 71st minute, by the 72nd minute Augustus got a penalty which was sent wide by Musa Noah Kamara. In the 77th minute, Augustus got an opener for Leone Stars giving hope to the team.

In the 81st minute, Kwame was replaced by Kallum Cessay. Musa Tombo got the equalizer in the 86th minute.

The Guinea Bissau goalkeeper was stretched out of the pitch after he collided with a player during the build-up to the goal. Since the team had exhausted their substitution a player took to the goal, even though the Leone stars continued pushing for a winner with a 9-man Guinea Bissau Team, the Leone Stars couldn’t get a win.

It ended at the Stade General Lansana Conte Sierra Leone 2 Guinea Bissau 2.

This draw means the Leone Stars should win their remaining matches, especially the next two, and hopes that their group members drop points in the process.
