Detective sergeant 1096 Douglas George attached to the Criminal Investigation Department at Congo Cross police station has explained before magistrate Marke Ngegba the steps he took to investigate and Charge Ibrahim Kamara who was alleged to have invaded and wreaked havoc on complainant Ishmeal Bangura and wife at the West End of Freedom.
The accused Ibrahim Kamara is before magistrate Marke Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.2 for Preliminary Investigation on three count charges of Burglary, Assault and Carrying Offensive weapon contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
It was alleged on the charge sheet that on Saturday 16th April, 2022, the accused invaded the resident of complainant Ishmael Bangura and took properties worth millions of Leones and in the process assaulted his wife and he with harmful implements.
Testifying in the dock, Detective sergeant 1096 Douglas George attached to the Criminal Investigations Department Congo Cross police station said he knows complainant and recognized the accused.
He said on Saturday 16th April, 2022, he was on duty when complainant Ishmeal Bangura and one Isatu arrested and brought in the accused.
The investigator said complainant was issued with a police medical request form which he took to the hospital for examination and treatment.
He said he went to the crime scene with other police officers and on arrival various items were discovered.
He said upon arrival at the station, statements were obtained from complainant and their witnesses and the accused was cautioned and questioned.
The investigator said the accused made statements in krio and was recorded in English.
He produced and tendered the statement to form part of the records.
Explaining further, the investigator said on Thursday 21st April, he finally charged the accused with the offences of burglary, assault and carrying offensive weapon.
Cross examined by the accused, the investigator said he did not take photos of the accused at the crime scene. The accused put it to the investigator that he did not investigate properly, but just come and charge.
Responding to the above, the investigator confirmed doing his job effectively.
At the end of cross examination, magistrate Marke Ngegba adjourned the matter to the 17th June 2022.
