First Prosecution witness (PW1) Ahmed Mustapha Jalloh on a robbery matter on Thursday 9th June 2022, testified before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No 2, that on the 16th May 2022, around 2:30am he saw four people inside there room with flash light with half masks on their face, and he told the Court that 4 of them entered there room, and his wife shouted thief, then they hold him and his wife and took out knives for them.
The witness continues that his wife was to fight with them but he was calm as his wife was trying to ask them what they need. They took his wife outside the veranda, and he asked them what they wanted, if it is money or what?
He then called the four thieves and took them to his safe where he kept 7 thousand 5 hundred united state dollars and gave them. He said the 5 thousand dollars was for his father ceremony, and the 2 thousand 5 hundred dollars was for from his sister from USA.
The witness also revealed that 44 million Leones was given to them, and they also took some of his wears and phones which amounted over one hundred million Leones. After their operations they released them and went away.
So he did not waste any time but went to Hill Top Police Station and made report the next morning. And later he got information of another theft which they arrested two of the four thieves that went to their house to robbed them.
So he was call upon to identify the suspects arrested, which he went with his wife at the station and identify two of the them as they are the two among the four that went to his house to robbed them. After the testimony of the witness, both accused Chernor Jalloh alias Fullah boy and Yomie Strasser King Alias Shakur cross examined the witness as they are not represented.
Both accused are charged on two counts of robbery, conspiracy and assault contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. According to the count of conspiracy commit a felony, both accused Chernor Jalloh alias Fullah boy and Yomie Strasser King alias Shakur on Monday 16th May 2022, at No. 11 Hanseen Drive Hill Station, Freetown, conspired together with other person’s unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery with aggravation.
On count 2 and 3 both accused in the same date and place robbed Mustapha Jalloh and his wife Mabinty Jalloh 7 thousand 5 hundred united state dollars, forty seven million Leones, men’s wears and phones totalling one hundred and thirty eight million seven hundred and twenty thousand Leones property of Ahmed Mustapha Jalloh and Mabinty Jalloh and also assaulted them.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons and no plea taken.
However, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent both accused persons to the male correctional center in Freetown and matter adjourned to the 15th June 2022. Inspector Abdul Tejan Bangura Prosecuting the matter.
