27yrs old Edwin Phillip Kargbo alias ‘white boy’ made another appearance before Magistrate Hadiru K Daboh of Ross Road Court No.3 in Freetown on one count charge to wit Fraudulent Conversion Contrary to section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916
According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 22nd May 2022 at Baibureh Road Allen Town the western area in Freetown Fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is to say one Nissan Saloon Vehicle with registration number APT 871 value thirty seven million Leones (37,000,000) entrusted to him by Yayah Kabia for the purpose of riding on commercial bases.
Testifying in court First Prosecution witness (PW1) Yayah Kabia a business man said he recognised the accused person as his driver a casual worker and also recalled the 22nd May 2022.
The witness said he was at home around 8:00am on the said date when his friend Ibrahim called him to borrow his vehicle ABT 871 Nissan Escot.
He said he told his friend Ibrahim Conteh to contact the accused person and he did to know if he was the one that gave him his contact to the said Ibrahim Conteh and the accused person accepted to take his friend to the wedding since then the accused person didn’t returned with his vehicle.
The witness said he have the life card of the said vehicle which bears the name of his Son Osman Kabia and the life card was produce in court for identification and marked as Z1-3. He said he made report and statement was obtained from him and his witness at the Criminal Investigation Department Cid headquarters Pademba Road in Freetown.
The witness said the cost of the vehicle was thirty seven million Leones and the police visited the crime scene.
The accused person was unrepresented and bail was refused and was sent to the male correctional centre.
Matter adjourned to the 17th June 2022 for further hearing, while Inspector M.M George prosecuting the matter.
