In the bid of celebrating World Environmental Day with the theme ‘’Only One Earth’’, Auradicals Foundation in partnership with Don Bosco Fambul Eco-Project has commenced the planting of trees along the Lumley and Aberdeen beaches on Sunday 5th June 2022.

Sidikie Tommy Esq, National Coordinator of the Auradicals Foundation said they would continue to be part of this course even though climate change had brought ripple effects to the world by extension.  He said Auradicals Foundation had overtime taken lead in many progressive things happening in Sierra Leone. Sidikie Tommy Esq stated that they as torch bearers; they had decided to collaborate with keys partners like the Don Bosco Fambul Eco-Project in making this day successful.

He urged Sierra Leoneans to refrain from the act of cutting down of trees and other human activities that had been served as impediments to the environment.  ‘’Let us see the environment like one that we will need for our survival and sustainability,’’ Sidikie Tommy Esq said.

He revealed that the symbolic tree planting process resorted on making the environment friendly for the livelihood of everybody; adding that this eventful day would provide a platform for creating awareness and educating others about the significant of planting trees. He affirmed that Sierra Leoneans needed to hold the duty at commendable strength in keeping the environment safe.

Murrah Massaquoi, Project Coordinator at Don Bosco Fambul Eco-Project said the participation of Don Bosco in this process came in as a way of mitigating some environmental disasters happening in Sierra Leone. He revealed that by planting more trees particularly in Freetown would refresh some of the areas within the municipality that had been damaged and deforested.

He felt honoured for the initiative of Auradicals Foundation by voluntarily making the World Environmental Day achievable. Murrah Massaquoi said human negligence had been one of the constraints of environmental implications in Sierra Leone. He implored everyone to see every other day as environmental day thereby planting more trees and reduce plastic pollution for the betterment of the country.

Yayah Mansaray, Acting Assistant Director at the Commercial Unit of Ministry of Environment and Forestry viewed the work of Auradicals Foundation as timely; that which had created awareness to Sierra Leoneans. He said in every shakes of lamb’s tail, there had been only one earth and it had to be protected for generations to come.

Sallu Ngombulango, Dictator of the Auradicals Entity said the environment had been paramount for human existence, and equally the spontaneous human survivor hinged on the environment. He stated that they saw it necessary to engage in planting trees in order to compliment the effort of the government and other partners in combating climate change. ‘’We want to see how we can contribute to maximizing the availability of planting trees,’’ Sallu Ngombulango averred.
