SLFA President Clock A Year in Office

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Thomas Daddy Brima has clock one year plus in Office as the Football Association President.
The Football Association President came to Office after a high contested Elective Congress that saw him took the ring of power after eight years of infighting between the football administrators under the then Isha Johansen lead Executive. The Election was held on June 5th, 2021 in Makeni the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
He came into the presidential race with one message that if elected there will be a drastic change in Football development in the Country and based on his message the delegates have trusted and elected him to power with (37) votes against his Counterpart who scored 32 votes.
Thomas Daddy Brima amidst the prevailing circumstance was able to support the Sierra Leone Premier League with trophies and medals to the respective winner, under his leadership, the country qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations after 25 years of missing out on the tournament and the nation set unprecedented records in the tournament.
Under the leadership of Thomas Daddy Brima, there is relative peace and calm with the aggrieved Stakeholders in the Football family and has successfully brought some of the members of the onboard to work with his administration.
Under Thomas Daddy Brima’s administration, he has been able to set up a female board that will be charged with organizing the first-ever female league in the country and it is set to kick off in September this year.
Under Thomas Daddy Brima’s administration, he set up a project to develop five pitches within the Western Area, and those projects were set to kick off just after the rainy seasons.
But Thomas Daddy administration’s inherit a band from FIFA and that has stalled so many developments and projects that should have kicked off long before immediately, according to Thomas Daddy Brima the band is from the last administration of Madam Isha Johansen and it is not a secret, “we just did not want to use that as an excuse for not performing,” he further said that the Executive Committee has done a great job and I am sure by every indication that we have gone past that.”
He further that some of the success stories when once this is taken care of, we will fast forward all projects for the good of the game called on the football family to work together. Thomas Daddy Brima said donors or sponsors usually probe into the finances of the organizations, to make sure the right things are being done, my administration has followed the due process and we are fine now.
Under his administration, Leone Stars have played more friendlies matches as the team prepared for qualifiers and now the under 17 are present in an international Friendlies in Liberia against Morocco.
Amidst all these success stories there are challenges that the administration needs to work on, Structuring domestic leagues from all categories, and getting a calendar year for all events in the country.
