38yrs old Abass Sesay a business man and 34yrs old John Sima Bangura a Labourer made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on three court charges to wit Wounding Contrary to section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and two count raising from assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence the first accused person Abass Sesay on the 18th May 2022 at ABB York road Waterloo the western area in Freetown maliciously wounded Mariama Juliet Thoronka, and on count two and three at the same place and date assaulted Adama Thoronka in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons the first accused person pleaded guilty on count one, on count two and three both accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused persons J.J Foday, S.Sesay and J.During Esq applied for bail for and on behalf of both accused persons pursuant to section 79 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965 that the accused person is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognisance on his behalf he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will they jump bail.
However, Magistrate Kekura granted the second accused person bail in the sum of fifty million Leones or one surety in like sum surety must be gainfully employed from a recognised institution the surety should produce his employment letter and identity card of the said institution the surety should be elderly and responsible citizen bail to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The first accused person was sent to the male correctional centre in Freetown for records and sentence. Matter adjourned to the 3rd June 2022 for further hearing, while Inspector Kadie M Taylor Prosecuting the matter.
