The Chairman, Board of Directors of the Infrastructure for Development Consortium, Charles Mambu has commended the Sierra Leone Guoji Construction and Investment Co. LTD.
He praised the role the company has made towards the ongoing construction of the Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters in Freetown.
The Civil Society Organization (CSO) scribe described the Chinese company’s work as one that is result oriented.
He said from what he saw during the assessment visit, he is of the view that the project is going on well with Guoji engineers at the top of affairs.
He said what remains in the construction work; by estimation is just 5% with the company having done over 90% of the work.
“The company has assured us that the remaining work would be completed before the end of the year so the ACC can transfer to its own building”, Mr. Mambu emphasized, adding that the Consortium is satisfied with the performance of the company so far.
According to him, the Consortium during the visitation took along the media and Engineers to quantify the level of work the company has already done.
He said from what they heard from their Engineer, their minds are at ease because there is no quality issue to worry about.
He stressed that it is their role to do the assessments so the government does not lose its resources spent on building offices for Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).
Mambu highlighted that from the look of things, the ACC has been monitoring the construction project well, marking that the materials used in the construction were standard.
It could be recalled that in 2017-2018, the Infrastructure for Development formally wrote to the government of Sierra Leone in respect of the huge sums of money the government is spending on renting offices.
The Consortium has been calling on MDA`s and parastatals to construct their offices instead of paying huge chunks of cash on paying annual rents.
