The Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association has on the 2nd April 2022 supported twenty-two (22) swimmers and eleven (11) officials with cash packages as part of their support to them during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The donation was done at SLSDWA’S new secretariat in Freetown
Addressing the Swimmers, the Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Joseph Jida Kizz Kamara who served as the chairman for the occasion welcomed the athletes and officials to their new home for the next two years citing that the Association’s Head Office will soon be officially open to the public.
He said the reason for the occasion is to support swimmers and their officials with funds as they prepare to observe the holy month of Ramadan, adding that the coach had submitted 18 names of swimmers to the secretariat who should each receive a cash package to support them during the fasting period.
The President of the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association, Mr. Mohamed Abdul Turay advised the swimmers to be steadfast and regular with their training sessions and put up their best performances so that everyone will have the opportunity to be selected for one of the many pending competitions for the SLDWA this year, ending that the support was not meant for only Muslims swimmers but the entire SLE Team, as the same will be replicated during the Christmas season.
The cash presentations to all the eighteen (18) swimmers were done by the Secretary-General, Mr. Abdul Turay.
