Due to the renovation of the Siaka Stevens Stadium which prompted the closing of the Pool, the Sierra Leone Swimming team has on 14th March 2022 embarked on dry land and open water training at Aberdeen Beach in Freetown.
Speaking about the team’s preparedness for the commonwealth games, Head coach Mr. Sheku Conteh, said the training is geared towards preparing the swimmers physically and mentally for the commonwealth games and FINA pending championship later this year.
Thirteen (13) athletes and three (3) officials are on the training list.
For the last three months, the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association has been inactive competitions the last one was the Abu Dabi Mini Championship where they excel and now they have brace up for the Commonwealth Games set to take place in Birmingham England.
The Association is also preparing for the Zone 2 Championship in Dakar and CANA Championship in Tunisia in all the competitions they have done extremely well and have won medals in the past years.
