Sufian Mansaray, a student attached at Quest International University situated in Malaysia has been dragged to Court before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of Pademba Road Court No.4 in Freetown, for duping an Imam( a Muslim Clergy) over seven million Leones for online courses.
The accused is charged on a count of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916. According to the charge sheet, the accused Sufian Mansaray on a date between 6th and 31st January 2022, at No. 92 Circular road, Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of seven million eight hundred thousand Leones (7,800,000.00) from Sheik Musa Kamara by falsely pretending to assist Mohamed Lamin Kamara to study online course on cyber security and information technology, which is known to be false.
In another file, the same accused appeared before the same Court and Magistrate, for also obtaining fifteen million five hundred and fifty thousand Leones from Ahmed Kamara with the pretext of facilitating the travel of his son Abdul Kamara to Canada which is known to be false.
The accused person was legally unrepresented.
Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker refused and adjourned the matter to the 16th March 2022, while Deputy Superintendent Sorie Conteh and Sub Inspector J.K Songo are prosecuting the matter.
