Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Magistrate Pademba Road in Freetown has on the 12th February, committed the Makeni riotous conduct matter between the State and Amadu Kamara alias Kondo and twelve others to the High Court.

The thirteen Makeni rioters including, Amadu Kamara alias Kondo, Idrissa Koroma, Thamiu Kamara and ten others were charged with seven counts of conspiracy to commit felony, carrying offensive weapon, disorderly behavior, among other offences.  

The State alleges that the accused persons between Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July, 2020, within the Makeni City, Bombali District, conspired with other persons unknown to commit felony to wit carrying offensive weapons.

The police also claim that the accused persons injured innocent people and maliciously damaged property worth thirty nine million, seven hundred thousand Leones, belonging to the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) regional office at No.7 Kamal Street.

The police also alleged in count seven that the first accused (Amadu Koroma alias Kondo) maliciously damaged a property belonging to the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) at Nicole Street.

Building up his case, State Prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay called several witnesses including the Investigator M. Kargbo attached to the Makeni police station and the narrated the steps he took to investigates all accused persons.

During Preliminaries, counsel defending the accused persons Wara Serry Kamal made several applications for the Magistrate to grant bail to her clients but to no avail.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Mark Ngegba said the Prosecution has established a prima Facie case against all thirteen accused person and that there is a case answer.  The matter was committed to the high for proper trial.
