Magistrate Isata Sallu Tucker, at the NASSIT court on the 13th February 2021, issued bench warrant for SIERRAMIN BAUXITE SL.LTD. The said company owns NASSIT to the tune of over 4 billion Leones for arrears that they failed to settle from July 2014 to October 2020.
It is in this light, the Magistrate has ordered their arrest and failing to settle their arrears they will be detained till the said monies are paid.
Before making this order the NASSIT Lawyer Farah khan Sesay told the Court that the defendants, has failed to pay NASSIT contribution for his workers under the Social Security Act.
He reminded the court that they have a statutory obligation to pay Social Security contribution for and on behalf of its employees. The Lawyer said an inspection exercise was conducted which reveals that the defendant has not been keeping up to what the statutory obligation provides.
The exercise also reveals that the defendant is indebted to the Trust of over four billion Leones which inclusive arrears of contributions, interest and penalty charged for non-payment.
The particular of offence reads that SIERRAMIN BAUXITE SL.LTD, Alimany Sesay ( Human Resource Manager) being an “Establishment and “Employer” under the National Social Security and Insurance Trust on diverse dates between July 2014 to October 2020 did fail to pay Social Security Contributions for your workers to the Trust within the required period.
