Before NPRC took over governance from the then despotic APC government headed by Major General JS Momoh, the rebel were fast matching towards the capital Freetown at some point a guerilla attack from the rebel were launched at Newton an outskirts of the capital city called Freetown and many other regions in country except the north where scene of bitter encounter between the government force Known as Sierra Leone Army (SLA) and the RUF rebels.
It was during this period that the Khaki boys took over governance. Knowing the ability of captain Bio one of the coup leaders, he was appointed Chief of Defense Staff in the NPRC government. As CDS his first priority was to beat back the rebels. So in his wisdom he reintroduced Operation Octopus and as we all know the physical appearance of an Octopus, it has a lot of phalanges and can move at any direction at a given time. So the introduction of this operation made the rebels very uncomfortable as they lost so many territories including Pendembu their official headquarters in Upper Banta Chiefdom, Kailahun District, places like Normoh Farmah, Gerehun Luawa, Bendu the place where Sankoh himself was resident, Poturu in the Barri chiefdom and Koidu the rich diamond district headquarters town, Bo waterside to name but a few. It was after these battle successes that NPRC government began to undertake reforms.
My brothers and sisters before Bio took over the SLPP party in 2012 almost all its strongholds like Bo, Pujehun, Moyamba, Bonthe, Kailahun, Kono were occupied by either PMDC, or APC parties considered to be opposition to the party that is love in those districts so Bio imported his Operation Octopus agenda and by the end of 2012 elections, he has retrieved the entire southern region from the foreign occupying force the named Peoples Movement For Democratic Change (PMDC) by 2018.
He managed to capture some areas of the Western Area a non-going territories for the SLPP in the past and he made a little gain in the north by winning a parliamentary seat and some councilor seat. Today as we speak there is not a council that does not have an SLPP councilor.
On Wednesday 23 February 2022 a Brig. Bio in the military and politics launched one of the biggest political invasions into the heartland of both NGC and APC that is Kambia and we all saw it. The invasion was headed by Political Regimental Sergeant Major Alpha Khan who led the assault. KKY was captured and offered an amnesty to return back. Yesterday again a small Naval wing made a landing at a sea shore of Tombo and captured an APC commando, the same yesterday 26 Feb.2022 a retired political Brig. General belonging to the belligerent force Victor Bockarie Foe told people that Bio has recaptured the entire country from APC. But while Bio is doing all these gains in the north he also sent a Reconnaissance troops under the leadership of a fine gentle political officer Captain Saffea Lesley Moiwa to clear the pocket of resistance in the eastern District of Kono. Yesterday whilst the small Naval Wing of Operation Octopus was closing on the Fishing community of Tombo to capture the APC former commando, Captain Saffea Lesley Moiwa was also busy recapturing the town called Mansabendu the heart land of APC in Kono.
From some experienced Military historians the way and manner Bio is operating this Operation Octopus very soon the whole country is going to turn Green.
