First Lady Fatima Maada Bio has over the weekend launched a development fund for her al mater, the Bo Government Secondary. The fundraiser is intended to build staff quarters to make up for the lodging constraints.
She urged the gathering of eminent citizens and old boys of the school including the former Vice President Victor Foh to target five billion leones, noting that she deserves her dowry from Bo school which she is going to add to her contribution to the fundraiser
She claimed to be an old girl of Boy girls with the admission number of 3919A. She said this is the time to give Boy school the deserving facelift. He extolled the virtous leaders that have been emerged from Bo school.
Dr. Prince Harding Chairman of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party, SLPP whilst making a statement at the launch said that SLPP came out of Bo School, mentioning the palm tree a national symbol of the ruling party as inscribed on the badge of Bo School. He said the project is not going to be undertaken at the expense of other schools.
Dr. Alpha Wurie Minister of Higher Education also speaks 68 million dollar BADEA project four governments, Prince of Wales, Magbruka Boys Secondary School and Kenema Government School.
He said President Bio deserves commendation of President Bio for considering Magburuka secondary school that has been in dire need of rehabilitation which the past president as old boy ignored.
Dr. Wurie also stated that President Bio had always stressed the need for self-reliance, which is why they are not going to depend on the BADEA funds for the rehabilitation of the school but have decided to fundraise in completing the allocation of Bo Schools out of the BADEA funds.
Boy school old boys had before now constructed a mini health clinic and what has been planned in the reconstruction of staff quarters is an extension of the previous initiative.
