35yrs old Electrician granted 10m bail For Fraud

35yrs old Ishmail Conteh an Electrician made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Conspiracy contrary to law and Obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on Thursday 27th January 2022 at No.7 Cockle Bay the Western Area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit Obtaining money by false pretenses and on count two at the same place and date the accused person Ishmail Conteh with intent to defraud obtained the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand Leones(250,000) from Alie Itiess with the pretext that he is working on behalf of the presidential task force in energy, knowing same to be false.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and he pleaded not guilty

Counsel representing the accused person applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction and that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognizance on his behalf.

He made his application pursuant to section 79 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965

However, Magistrate Kekura granted the accused person bail in the sum of ten million Leones or one surety in like sum.

Surety must be resident in the western area the said surety should produce valid identity card depicting his/her addresses in Freetown and bail to be approved by the Deputy Acting Registrar.

Couple 12090 Zanib Y Bangura is prosecuting the matter adjourned to the 21st February 2022.
