Located in the heart of Bo town and founded in 1954, St Andrew’s Secondary School commonly called UCC has been a secondary school that has produced scholars of no small standing.

It’s a co- educational institution and a Christian mission school. Of recent, they held series of anniversary events to mark its 68th year in existence.

The school has had very good academics such as John Thomas Kargbo, D. S Bindi, Rev. Baryoh, etc. that have managed the school and has undergone good and bad times.

The school has produced good citizens like the current speaker of Parliament, Dr. Abass Bundu, the current Secretary to the President, Dr. Julius F. Sandy, former finance Minister, J.J Saffa, etc.

The current Principal of the school, Keifa Avayama Kanneh who is himself an old boy of the school revealed the prospects and challenges of the school. Amongst his numerous plans is to instill discipline and competitive academic environment.

The school infrastructure has also seen renovating and constructing of new classrooms and the school itself.  St. Andrew’s Secondary School can now boast of a strong illustrious alumni association OSASA (Old St. Andrew’s Student Association).

Principal Kanneh said he has taken over a school that needs to pull its weight to “match up with the likes of Bo School, CKC, QRS and the likes”. Performance in recent public exam has not been satisfactory; he admitted but vowed to turn things around.

He calls on parents to help with monitoring of pupils to ensure discipline, and to government, he appeals for more support and prompt payment of school fees subsidy.
